When a country realizes it can align with a certain government, see that government exit, and then see itself isolated by that same government's own successor, it will do as little as possible to stay an ally. Obama's tossing out of Colombia as an ally won't make Brazil love us. It won't make anyone love us - or respect us, either. It's a good way to make ourselves a pariah state or a friend to creep republics that want things from us, like Cuba. What a sorry picture that would be!
